Rose Hall Town Gizmos & Gadgets and Port Mourant Karibee Rice into final

Rose Hall Town Gizmos and Gadgets and Port Mourant Karibee Rice teams have reached the final of this year’s Busta Champion of Champions tournament in Berbice.

In the semi-finals played last week-end Rose Hall Town Gizmos and Gadgets defeated Blairmont Community Centre by eight wickets at the Area `H’ ground while Port Mourant Karibee defeated Edingburgh by four wickets.

At the Area `H’ ground, Blairmont, batting first, scored 158 all out in 44 of the allotted 50 overs.

Omesh Mangal and Waqar Hassan each scored c26 runs while Karamchand Bissoondyal added 21.

Bowling for Rose Hall Town, Royston Crandon and Rajiv Ivan picked up 3-17 and 3-34 respectively while Khemraj Mahadeo chipped in with 3-23. Rose Hall Town were led to their target by Delbert Hicks who scored a commanding 85 not out off 62 balls as Rose Hall Town ended on 163-2 from 21.1 overs.
Mahadeo supported well with 40 while pacer  Akram Rahaman picked up 2-43.

In the other semi-final Edinburgh amassed 200 all out in 46.1 overs. The visitors were indebted to a solid innings of 65 from Shafiq Khan  with support from Yogendra Seepersaud and Denny David who scored 25 each, along with Jamal Henry 22.

Bowling for the home team, off-spinner Devendra Thakurdeen took 2 for 43 from and medium pacer Yogindra Harrinarine 3 for 31.

Needing to score 200 runs to secure a place in the finals, Port Mourant Karibee Rice reached 202 for 6 from 46.1 overs with the veteran Shastri Persaud top-scoring with 70. He was supported by Devendra Thakurdeen 43, Robert Moore 20 and Shameer Khan 30.

Bowling for Edinburgh, off-spinner Raid Ally and Sasenarine Sukhdeo claimed figures of 3 for 37 and 2 for 45.
The date for the final is yet to be set by the organisers.
