Mangal carts off United Insurance golf tourney

Mike Mangal carted off the United Insurance Medal Play Golf Tournament with a scintillating performance over the weekend at the Lusignan Golf Club.

Mangal shot a net 67 to secure victory and also had the lowest gross of 77 in winning his second tournament in as many months following his recent success in the Macorp competition.

Rawle Moore continued his upward climb on the local scene by claiming the second position with a net 68 while the battle for third place saw overseas-based Ramesh Amrud edging out Mark Lashley on a countback after both players closed the day on a net 71.

Mangal was Nearest to the Pin. United Insurance one of the leading insurance companies in the Caribbean is a first time sponsor of the event in Guyana and they were represented by a high power management team that included Gail Robinson, Terry Solomon, Andrew Shanks and Gregory Roberts.

Robinson said that United Insurance is known for its support of golf in Barbados and the company was pleased to sponsor the tournament in Guyana for the first time.

Vice President of the Lusignan Golf Club, Patrick Prashad said it was a distinct pleasure welcoming United Insurance on board as a major sponsor.

He said the club was looking forward to a long and fruitful partnership with United Insurance.
