Corentyne men ambushed, shot

A 29-year-old farmer of 1806 Grant Crabwood Creek, Corentyne is nursing pellet wounds he sustained while in the backdam around 8.45 am yesterday.
Vijay Ramdat who is said to be in a stable condition was travelling in a boat along with Hazrat Ibrahim, 17, when two men with shotguns attacked them and escaped.

He sustained injuries to his right eye and other parts of his body while Ibrahim sustained wounds to his upper back.

Police said in a release that the men were both rushed to the Skeldon Hospital before being referred to the New Amsterdam Hospital.

However, sources at the hospital told this newspaper Ibrahim was not a patient of that institution.

Reports are that the two victims are familiar with their attackers and that the shooting stemmed from a land and family dispute. Investigations are in progress.
