Juniors looking to upstage seniors in Open badminton doubles final

The pair of junior players Narayan Ramdhani and Nicholas Ali will look to upstage the more experienced pair of Gokarn Ramdhani and Marlon Chung when the final of the Guyana Badminton Association Open men’s doubles competition take place tonight at the Queen’s College courts.

The final will commence at 6.30pm and it will bring the curtain down on the tournament which commenced on Friday.

The tournament attracted past national players Deodat Etwaru, William Holder and Gokarn Ramdhani along with senior players Ernesto Choo-A-Fat, Raymond Khalil, Haymant Ramdhani, Binsaud Baksh, Marlon Chung, Tilak Perreira, Darrell Carpenay and Guyana’s top national junior players Christopher Persaud, Nicholas Ali, Narayan Ramdhani and Avinash Oudit.

National junior players, Ali and Caribbean silver medalist 13 year old Narayan Ramdhani, reached the final by defeating Haymant Ramdhani and Baksh: 21-8, 21-4 in the first round and Raymond and Jason Khalil in the semi-finals: 21-17, 21-12

In the other half of the draw, Gokarn Ramdhani and Chung reached the final by defeating Perreira and Carpenay: 21-8, 21-12 in the first round and Etwaroo and Holder: 21-12, 22-20 in the semi-finals.
