Permaul upstages Nagamootoo in Trinidad

Left-arm spinner Veerasammy Permaul upstaged fellow Guyanese Mahendra Nagamootoo to lead his adopted club PowerGen to a whopping 127-run victory in round seven of the Premiership cricket series at Syne Village in Penal.

PowerGen batted first and scored 234 all out with Guyanese opener Rajindra Chandrika getting 37.

Central Sports responded with 113 all out. With a lead of 121 runs on first innings, PowerGen made 128 for four declared in their second innings, setting Central Sports 250 for victory. Nagamootoo, bowling for SIS Central Sports, took 2/53 in PowerGen’s second innings.

Permaul then came into the thick of things and grabbed 4/23 to help dismiss  Central Sports for 122 to give PowerGen the win.

Elsewhere, Guyanese players had a quiet round with Troy Cornelius scoring 30 runs for Merryboys in their drawn encounter with Queen’s Park. Middle order batsman Krishna Arjune scored 35 as his team Bamboo Sports drew their encounter with Preysal.
