Weather cripples C/ships but Nash presses on

LONDON, England,  CMC – With West Indies poised to begin their tour of England next week, wintry and rainy weather has continued to torment the English County season.

Yesterday, most games were battered by rain and temperatures that dipped to as low as seven degrees Celsius.

At Canterbury, only 53 balls were possible but in the time available, former West Indies vice-captain Brendan Nash extended his overnight 114 to 132 not out as Kent reached 350 for nine against Yorkshire.

There was more of the same at the Rose Bowl where only 10 overs were bowled before persistent rain ended the contest for the day.

Hampshire, however, carried their overnight 181 for four to 214 without further loss against Leicestershire captained by former West Indies skipper, Ramnaresh Sarwan.

More rain and low temperatures have been forecast for Sunday.
West Indies bowl off their tour here next Saturday with a three-day match against Sussex at Hove.
