UK setting up biometric clinic for Surinamese

The United Kingdom Border Agency (UKBA) is introducing biometric clinics for Suriname nationals who wish to obtain a visa to travel to the UK.

For a six-month trial period, twice per month, starting on Thursday May 24, UKBA officials will be in Paramaribo to receive visa applications and take the necessary biometric information, a press release from the British High Commission said.

For Surinamese, this will bring an end to the inconvenience and expense of having to travel to Georgetown to have their biometrics taken. Instead, visa applicants will have this data taken at the British Consulate Office, Van’t Hogerhuysstraat 9-11, Paramaribo. Applicants will need to have made an appointment to attend the clinics. They can do this online at visainforservices.com where they will find guidance on how to complete an application form and a link to the form itself.

On completion of the form, applicants will be directed to make an appointment in Georgetown. Following this, UKBA agents will then contact them and offer them the opportunity to give their biometrics in Paramaribo. Applicants are also advised that once their biometric data has been captured, they will still need to send their application to Kingston, Jamaica for processing.
