Robbery with violence accused put on $50,000 bail

Travis Prince was yesterday granted $50,000 bail by Magistrate Hazel Octave-Hamilton when he appeared before her in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court on an indictable  charge of robbery with violence.

It is alleged that Prince on May 7 at Leopold Street,  Georgetown,  stole one 28 ½ pennyweight gold chain and one BlackBerry Curve,  all valued a total of $153,000, property of Calvin Dover. Prince reportedly also made use of physical violence.

Prince was represented by attorney-at-law Adrian Thompson who made an application for bail on his behalf. In his request he stated that his client is 26 years of age and has a fixed place of abode at Lot 66 Leopold Street. His client, he said, is employed at Jeans Fashion on D’urban Street and after his arrest he was placed on $20,000 station bail and had come to court of his free will.

Police Prosecutor Corporal Simone Payne had no objection to bail being granted and the magistrate acceded. The matter was then transferred to Court Two for a later date.
