Books sent through Post Office don’t arrive

Dear Editor,

I am a student at the University of Guyana. As such, it is necessary that I purchase books sometimes from abroad, including textbooks.
The problem is that I do not receive the books on time, and many times I do not receive them at all. I approached the Post Office personnel but they are very evasive and unprofessional (the counter clerks).

I also contacted the companies from whom I bought the books. There is more than one company involved – reputable ones – and they all said that the items were lying in the post office months ago. Why am I met with laughter when I approach the postal workers? Have I no right to import books when I need them? How can this issue be dealt with in a just and sane manner?

Yours faithfully,
