Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL) representative Alexia Langhorne gave the cheque to JKA/WF Guyana representative Marlon George for the tournament set for June 7 – 10. Langhorne said DDL is always looking for opportunities to give back to the nation and the company is particularly pleased to be supporting a sport that teaches self-defence and helps to boost self-confidence and concentration. She then extended best wishes from DDL and the Pepsi brand for a successful tournament.

Interest in karate has been increasing in recent months. It was noted in a recent briefing that since 2006 Guyana has been doing well at overseas tournaments and several local competitors were awarded medals in the 2010 Pan-America Championships.
