According to reports, Veerapen was driving a Lancer and was speeding on the Corentyne road when the accident occurred around 1.30 pm. Williams was walking along the Kilcoy Public Road when the driver of the car lost control and struck her down.

Mohamed, on the other hand, was at a workshop having his motor vehicle fixed when his friend, Nathaniel Ramoutar, who was driving a Mitsubishi Lancer, drove up and he went out to speak to him. Ramoutar had told Stabroek News that he was in a snackette next door to the workshop and he saw his friend Mohamed. He said Williams was also at the snackette. According to Ramoutar, Mohamed came out on the roadway and was speaking to him through the front left window and within a minute the accident happened.

After Mohamed was hit his body was pitched onto his parked Four Runner vehicle that was being fixed at the workshop.
