The Anna Catherina Islamic Complex (ACIC), Muslim Youth League (MYL) of Guyana and the Guyana United Sadr Islamic Anjuman in association with the Nasir Foundation Inc is hosting a special programme featuring Canada-based Muslim scholar Shaykh Faisal Hamid Abdur Razak at the ACIC on Thursday, July 5.
In a press release, the MYL said Razak, who lives in Brampton, Canada, studied in Saudi Arabia, first at Umm al-Qurra University in Makkah, then at King Adulaziz University in Jeddah. He also studied at York University in Canada and has received numerous ljaazas (Certificates in Traditional Islamic Sciences) the most important one having been bestowed upon him by Shaykh As-Sayyid Muhammad Ibn Ibrahim al-Yacoubi al-Hasani and Shaykh Muhammad Ibn Alawai al-Maaliki al-Hasani.
Razak will be accompanied by Qari Syed Sadaqat Ali from Pakistan. Ali (a reciter of Quran) is one of the leaders in his field around the world having recited in over 500 cities. He has also won several international Qu’ran Recitation Competitions and is the producer of the famous Ar-Rahman DVD.
The programme, which starts at 6.30 pm will also feature special recitations of qaseedas and a short Zikr.
