Regan Rodrigues Memorial 50-mile cycle race to pedal off tomorrow

The eighth annual Regan Rodrigues Memorial 50-mile cycle road race will pedal off tomorrow at 09:00hrs.

The race which is organized by national cycling coach, Hassan Mohamed, will commence from Wales Police Station, proceed to Bushy Park on the East Bank of Essequibo before returning to Demerara Harbour Bridge for the finish.

The veterans, upright and under-14 boys and girls will turn back at Uitvlugt Community Centre and finish at the Harbour Bridge.
The first six senior finishers will receive prizes while the first three juniors, veterans, two uprights, two females and two under-14 riders will also get  prizes.

The first over-60-years veteran will also receive a prize. Eight prime prizes will also be up for grabs during the course of the race.
At the time of his death on August 4, 2004 Rodrigues was the president of the Carlton Wheelers Cycle Club, former president of the Guyana Cycle Federation and former motor racing driver and sport enthusiast.

Last year’s winners were Robin Persaud (senior),Raynauth Jeffrey (junior), Raymond Newton (veteran),Richard Charles (upright), Walter Isaacs (over-60 veteran) and Hazina Barrett (female).

The family of Rodrigues and the staff of Ricks and Sari Argo Industries Limited will distribute the prizes to the winning cyclists.
