Vice-President of the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) Kwabina Griffith said yesterday that the association was beset with internal wrangling and that the entire executive should resign if it is unable to find a solution to its problems.

Griffith, who has responsibility for Technical Development, said yesterday that pending the outcome of today’s executive meeting the entire executive of the GFA should resign en masse if it is unable to resolve their problems.

The resignations, he said, would pave the way for the General Council to select a new executive which will hopefully advance the affairs of the GFA and football in the city.

Stabroek Sport contacted Griffith after receiving reports that he had resigned from the GFA.
Griffith, however, assured this newspaper that he was still a member of the GFA executive contrary to those reports.
Stabroek Sport learnt that following today’s meeting; the executive of the association has five days to return to the General Council as a unified group in order to have matters before the council addressed.

The General Council is the highest decision making body overseeing the affairs of football in the city.
This is the second time in less than two months that the General Council has ordered the GFA executive to put its house in order.

Reports are that there is a power struggle within the association which has already seen some executive members staying away from meetings.

There are also reports of a division within the membership of the association. Stabroek Sport was unable to contact GFA President Vernon Burnett yesterday despite repeated efforts.
