Vagrant jailed for stealing bottles from ministry

A vagrant was yesterday sentenced to a six-month jail term after he admitted to stealing two cases of bottles, which were the property of the Ministry of Amerindian Affairs.

Moheir Ramsaywack, 23, who was described by police as a well-known vagrant of the Bourda Market area,had pleaded not guilty when he was arraigned last month before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.

Ramsaywack, however, changed his plea yesterday, when he appeared before Magistrate Leron Daly at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

Facts from the prosecution stated that on October 18, in Georgetown, Ramsaywack was spotted in the yard of the Ministry of Amerindian Affairs on East Street, where he had two cases of empty bottles in a bag. An alarm was raised and he was subsequently held. The bottles, valued at $2,500, was the property of the ministry
