Big trader here seen as prime figure behind Curacao gold

With Curacao last week busting open the gold heist aboard a vessel in the island’s port, pressure is mounting on the authorities here to seek access to the Guyanese crew for answers as to the origin of the metal as the focus shifts to a large scale trader here as the likely prime figure behind the shipment.

Guyana, China sign $998M financing deal

On Friday,  Finance Minister Dr Ashni Singh and Chinese Ambassador to Guyana Zhang Limin, signed an agreement under which the People’s Republic of China will provide $998M for bilateral cooperation projects which are still to be agreed.

Contracts signed for landfills in Regions 5, 6

Minister in the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development, Norman Whittaker on Friday signed off on a contract for Advanced Environment Solution to develop a landfill site at Zorg-en-Hoop, Region Five and another in New Amsterdam, Region Six, the Government Information Agency reported on Friday.
