Quincy Daniels

Mohan had told this newspaper that it was around 8 pm when the bus slammed into “a big canter” which was parked on the roadway. He noted that the vehicle was carrying a full load and at the time of the accident, the driver was speeding. “Every single body” in the bus, he observed, sustained injuries as a result of the collision.  His injuries include a broken hand.

Stabroek News was able to speak with Wilson who is a patient of the Female Surgical Ward and is nursing injuries to her left leg. “My foot break and my head get a few cuts,” the young woman said from her hospital bed.

She recalled sitting next to the conductor while talking on her cell phone and said just as she was putting the instrument into her purse, she was flung forward when the driver suddenly mashed the vehicle’s brakes. She said immediately after she realized that they had crashed.

Loretta Wilson

Fully conscious, Wilson said she and the other passengers were pulled from the vehicle which was badly damaged.

She added that she was at the time travelling to her job at a Kitty Public Road hotel.

Also speaking with this newspaper was Daniels, a patient of the Male Surgical Ward who said he was seated in the second to last seat at the time.

The 19-year-old said he has no recollection of what occurred.

Daniels’ right leg is broken and he has lost a number of teeth while others are shaking. He said he is experiencing excruciating pain, especially in the mouth.

Stabroek News approached Grandison for an interview but he declined with an apology. “To review the accident is very stressful, too stressful, I’m sorry,” the man said. His left foot was seen with several bandages.
