T and T scores massive win over Canada

PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad,  CMC-Trinidad and Tobago romped to a comprehensive innings and 130-run victory over Canada on the third day  yesterday of their three-day match at the National Cricket Centre (NCC) in Couva. The Canadians, resuming from an overnight score of 94 for four, were bowled out for 191 after posting a first innings total of 135 all out. Off-spinner Amit Jaggernauth continued to impress with a six wicket haul that crippled the visitors who were reeling at 126 for six. Tariq Hamza 31 and Junaid Siddiqui 23 added 35 runs in a stubborn seventh wicket stand that threatened to keep the match in progress until the rains came.

Jaggernauth led a successful spinner’s assault on the Canadian batting to finish with figures of six wickets for 84 runs including the scalps of Nitish Kumar for six and Rizwan Cheema for 18.

Left-arm spinner Kavesh Kantasingh, three for 28, and leg-spinner Imran Khan accounted for the remaining four wickets. Earlier Jason Mohammed and Yannic Cariah powered to centuries as Trinidad and Tobago stamped their authority on Canada on the second day. Mohammed slammed 112 off 168 balls while Cariah supported with an even 100 off 131 balls as the host dominated the visitors. Mohammed smashed 18 fours and a six, while Cariah hit 14 boundaries as T&T roared to 456 for seven declared.
