Police, GCC clash in Noble House Seafood’s final today at GCC

The Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) second division Noble House Seafood’s sponsored two-day cricket competition will conclude this weekend at the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) Bourda where the hosts take on the Police Sports Club.

While GCC will start as favourites, Police has played an aggressive brand of cricket throughout the tournament.

Through superior defensive techniques and displaying a cohesive team effort, the young GCC side established themselves as a formidable team throughout the tournament. Their calculated, rearguard, semi-final display effectively batted them into the final, and with first innings points being enough to secure the title, Police will need to ensure GCC does not repeat its semi final feat of batting for more than a day.

GCC’s team will come from Devon Lord, Manny Forde, Fadil Umrow, Ray Barker, Martin Pestano Belle, Almando Doman, Treon Forde, Bernard Bailey, Samuel McKenzie, Kevin Plants, Cleon Critchlow, Shamar Graham and Ronaldo Mohamed.

The coach is Monty Lynch.

The Police team will come from Troy Benn, Ameer Mohamed, Randolph Knights, Pernell London, Eric Angel, Stephan Blacks, Kelvin Leitch, Collis Cort (wicketkeeper), Fitzroy Culley (captain), Darsan La Rose, Vishal Jaigobin, Sheldon Agard, Rawl Haynes, and Mark Cumberbatch.  Former fast bowler Jermain Neblett has been named coach while Rodwell Henry is the manager.

Umpires Montgomery Chester and Ryan Banwari will call play at 10:30 am on both days, and teams will look for the early advantage on what is historically a wicket favourable for batting.
