Troy Cook Memorial football tourney gets underway today

Action in the Stag Beer sponsored Troy Cook Memorial Knockout Football tournament will commence today at the Camptown Football Club ground in Campbellville with a double header.

The feature game of the evening at 20:00hrs will see an old rivalry being renewed when Pele FC led by the trio of Okeene Fraser, Shemroy Arthur and Keoma Gravesande tackle Santos and their quartet of Odel Williams, Glenorvan Edmonds, Michael Pedro and Jermaine Bamfield in a keenly anticipated showdown.

Barry Myers, Coach of Pele during an invited comment said:“Hopefully we get the better of them this time. We got opportunities the last time we played but we didn’t finish. When you get chances you have to make use of them.

“Hopefully our fortune changes and we get it right. We are going out there to seek a victory,” added Myers.

In the opening game at 18:00hrs, the Guyana Defence Force marshalled by the skilful duo of Delroy Fraser and Eusi Phillips will tackle Bourda based outfit the Georgetown Football Club.
