Long waits for documents at the GRA

Dear Editor,

My perception of the GRA in its new location was one of expedition and reliability relative to matters of the public. The fact is that doing business there is not always a pleasant experience.

The various counter attendants know what they are about, but some documents for the clients are delayed at the desks of some supervisors or managers who seem not to value other people’s time.

Some clients were given a day and time to uplift certain documents, but when they turned up, they waited over four hours and were eventually asked to come back another day.

This is not good enough. Offices, especially the offices of prominent institutions must honour their obligation to the public. Often the client is asked to sit and wait and unless he/she revisits the counter to find out about the long delay, no courtesy is shown to inform him or her about the reason for such delays.

Could someone in the right position address the services at this level and show some concern for people they would have noticed sitting for long hours in the little blue chairs.

Yours faithfully,
