The Guyana Power and Light Inc (GPL) suffered a number of outages yesterday when high winds accompanying the heavy downpours caused overhead electrical wires in the city to touch one another, causing damage to transmission equipment.
This was confirmed by CEO of GPL Bharat Dindyal last night when Stabroek News contacted him for a comment.
The outage caused many parts of the city to suffer intermittent blackouts.
Dindyal said that the emergency crews have been deployed during the day and up to last night, damage to the burnt out equipment had been rectified.
