Coach questions snubbing of Pele players

Pele FC Coach Barry Myers says while his team has not done well in recent competitive football matches several of his players possess the talent and skill that can be an asset to the Golden Jaguars national team and he is surprised that none had been selected.

“We should have got one or two players in the list. Ability has nothing to do with age and we should have at least two players on the list. Devon Charles, Omallo Williams and even Joshua Kamal are good enough to be on the list,” Myers said in an interview yesterday.

He said that while he does not know some of the players on the list, the technical and tactical ability which is required for selection to the national level, is the hallmark of the club. “I can only trust that they (selection committee) know the ability of the players selected,” he said.

Regarding the exclusion of certain season players, Myers said, “They got to call some players that are not on the list, they got to bring them on.

I am not that worried, they have plenty of proven players that will [have] to be included.”
