Pan Am elite team hockey player Alysa Xavier meets Minister Anthony

National female hockey goalkeeper Alysa Xavier was recently named to the Pan American elite team for the period of 2012/2013 following her sterling international performances between the woodwork.

Every two years, the Pan American Hockey Federation (PAHF) selects an elite team of its top players based on their performances for that period. Xavier joins an esteemed cast of individuals and she is the only selectee from the English-speaking Caribbean.

This is also the first time a representative from Guyana has featured on this prestigious selection. World champions Argentina leads the list with five selections inclusive of seven-time FIH World player of the Year Luciana Aymar while Canada and the United States of America features three selections apiece.

Chile is represented by two individuals while Mexico, Uruguay and the Guyana complete the list with one selection each.

Xavier on Thursday paid a courtesy call on Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport Dr. Frank Anthony at his office.
