Williams heads newly formed GPF rugby club

The Guyana Police Force (GPF) became the latest affiliate of the Guyana Rugby Football Union (GRFU) with the registration of a club on Wednesday at the Police Sports Club, Eve Leary.

According to PRO and coach of the newly formed fraternity, Troy Yhip, “We had the election of the office bearers and proceeded with forming the club and registering with the union.”

Yhip added that this is the “first rugby club in the police force” which will be playing all versions of the game.

In excess of 30 members have already signed on with the club which is scheduled to make its debut in the second division tournaments during the latter part of the year.

Yhip further noted that the club will be broad based since it “will not be only based in Georgetown but all the different divisions.”

At the helm of the club is Senior Superintendent in the GPF, Paul Williams.

The Senior Vice President is Berkley Wickham while the junior vice president is Colin Boyce.

Petal Adams is the Secretary, Mark George is the Treasurer and Fiona Fredericks is the Assistant Secretary/Treasurer.

The Committee Members are Keith Whyte, Richard James, Frederick Joe and Nyron Hassan.
