Mae’s A win U13, U11 titles

Mae’s A clinched the U13 title, defeating Mae’s B in the final by a 3-0 score line when the Business School Team table tennis tournament commenced Saturday at the National Gymnasium on Mandela Avenue.

Khalil Ninvalle led the way as he crushed Yesudistir Persaud in straight sets 11-6, 11-1 and 11-6 while Jeremy Singh brushed aside Jonathan Findlay 11-4, 11-1 and 11-6. In the doubles matchup, the pair of Ninvalle and Singh defeated Findlay and Persaud 11-2, 11-3 and 11-5.

In the third place matchup, Rama Krishna defeated Central High 3-2. Terrence Raush of Rama Krishna defeated Jamal Nickolus 11-4, 11-9 and 11-7. Rama Krishna would lose the next matchup as Tromond Eversley lost to Nicholas Romain 8-11, 6-11 and 7-11.

In the doubles matchup, the pair of Raush and Eversley defeated Jamal DaSilva and Nickolus 11-9, 11-3, 9-11 and 11-3 to push Rama Krishna into a 2-1 lead.

Central High would even the scores as Nickolus defeated Eversley 11-3, 11-7 and 11-9. In the final matchup, Raush defeated Romain 8-11, 11-2, 11-5 and 11-4 to clinch the third place spot.

In the novices’ round robin category, Mae’s A defeated Business School, Mae’s B and Central High by a 3-0, 3-1 and 3-0 score lines respectively to clinch the title.

In their matchup against Central High, Mae’s A walked away 3-0 winners. Matthew Yussuf defeated Reaquan Daniels 11-4, 11-2 and 11-5 while Durante DaSilva defeated Brunton Embleton 16-18, 11-6, 10-12, 11-6 and 11-3.

In the doubles matchup, Yussuf and Rayfaan Azeez overcame Daniels and Embleton 8-11, 14-12, 12-10 and 11-6. In the fixture against the Business School, Yussuf defeated Cleveland Poliah 11-0, 11-6 and 11-7 to give Mae’s A 1-0 lead.

DaSilva would make it 2-0 as he defeated Rajin Buhadur 11-0, 6-11, 11-7 and 11-5 while in the doubles match, DaSilva and Azeez defeated Mark Joseph and Buhadur 11-8, 11-5 and 11-3 to seal the win.

Coming up against their school mates in their final matchup, Yussuf would give Mae’s A the early lead as he defeated Kriston Persaud 11-2, 11-4 and 11-7. DaSilva would make it 2-0, crushing Noah Ferouz 11-7, 11-9 and 11-9.

However Mae’s B would pull one back as the pair of Daniel and K. Persaud defeated DaSilva and Azeez 11-8, 5-11, 12-10 and 11-8. Mae’s A would seal the title in the next match as Yussuf defeated Ferouz 11-2, 8-11, 11-7 and 11-0.

 

In the U11 finals, Mae’s A defeated Mae’s B 3-2. Kayson Ninvalle gave the A team the early lead as he defeated Cole Dickson 11-6, 11-3 and 11-2. The B team would level the score as Leyon O’Brien defeated Sachin Bhookmohan 11-8, 9-11, 11-3 and 11-6

The A side would retake the lead as Ninvalle and Nyron Bissu defeated Dickson and Shomari Wiltshire 11-4, 11-7 and 11-6. The score would become even at 2-2 as Dickson defeated Bhookmohan 11-7, 11-6 and 11-9.

With both sides needing a positive result to clinch the title, Ninvalle would clinch the win for the A side as he got past O’Brien 11-5, 11-6 and 11-8.

In the U15 round robin category, Queen’s College defeated Marian B and

Ash Education by an identical 3-0 score line to clinch group A while Mae’s B defeated St. Rose’s B and Business School  B by an matching 3-0 score to clinch group B.

Marian A were group D winners as they defeated Mae’s A and Central High while Group C winners up to press time remained undecided.
