On one day…more than 70 no-shows at Christianburg court

More than seventy persons, including police officers, failed to show up for a variety of cases that were down for hearing at the Christianburg Magistrate’s Court on March 25th.Presiding Magistrate Clive Nurse issued arrest warrants for several of those persons, including Meron Solomon to appear on  May15th as well as for the following persons to appear in court on  May 7th: Stefon Pearson, Lester Johnson, Colin Perry, Gordon James, Christopher Johnson, Marvin Reddock, Aubrey Gaskin, Nicose Ferdinand, Casper Wilson, Emile Isaacs, Hilary Benn, Vincent Joseph and Clarence Mitchell. An arrest warrant was also issued for Troy Christopher to appear in the Christianburg Magistrate’s Court on  April 16th.

Magistrate Nurse also fined Curtis Reis and Joel Moore, $30,000 each or alternatively, six months in prison. Both men had failed to appear in court to answer traffic charges. He also issued an arrest warrant for Jung Fung Lu, who also failed to appear in court and fined him $25,000, or four months imprisonment. Jung Fung Lu had pleaded guilty to driving an unlicensed motor vehicle.

Yo Hai Nan, who also failed to appear in court on  March 25th, had his case struck out because Lance Corporal Nagasar, who had brought charges against him also failed to appear for the court hearing.
