Sumair blasts century as Floodlights edge Frontliners

Floodlight’s John Sumair blasted the first century of the competition 134 as Floodlights defeated Frontliners by a mere three runs last Sunday in a match of the Ramchand/Rohan Auto sales softball cricket competition last Sunday.

The tournament is also sponsored by Mikes Pharmacy, Trophy Stall, Romeo Oil Seal, Motor Trend, Bel Air Rubis, Ariel Enterprise, and Nauth Motor Spares.

Batting first Floodlights scored 224 for 8 off 20 overs with Sumair hitting the top score of 134 not out.

He received support from Richard Persaud who made 23 as Gary Mickey grabbed 4 for 36 bowling for Frontliners who in reply made 221 all out in 19.5 overs. Mahendra Dhanpersaud was unbeaten on 85 while Lionel Persaud made 49 and Linden McCoy 42. Raghunandan Narine picked up 4 for 27.

In another male fixture, Regal Masters defeated Industry Super Kings by three wickets.

Batting first, Industry Super Kings reached 129 for 7 off 20 overs with Ishwar Persaud 36 and Mukesh Persaud, 21 not out, the principal scorers.

Troy Kippins 2 for 15 and former West Indies off spinner Clyde Butts 2 for 34. Regal, in reply knocked off the target reaching 132 for 8 off 18.3 overs with Jaga Bhoj the top scorer with 51 not out. Lyght Jr., made 21. Jagdesh Persaud 2 for 21, Ishwar Persaud 2 for 25 and Rahaman Khan 2 for 26 were the main wicket takers.

In other results Slingers defeated Wellman by 48 runs. Slingers tallied 192 for 9 off 20 overs with Rudy Rodrigues 57, Danny Mohanram 26 and Dennis Mangra 23, the principal scorers.

H. Hermand bagged 3 for 18 for Wellman who in reply made 144 all out in 18.1 overs. Greig De Franco top scored with 31 as Hafeez Samad picked up 4 for 7 and Mohamed Rafeek 2 for 8.

Regal too joined the winners defeating Wolf Warriors by 19 runs. Regal scored 199 for 7 off 20 overs with Martin Dutchin making 51, Patrick Rooplall 29 and Quacy Joseph 26. Mark Harold picked up 2 for 23 for Wolf Warriors who replied with 180 for 8 off 20 overs. Ricardo Adams made 38 and Lincoln Leander 21. P. Motilall picked up 3 for 28 and S. Boodhoo 2 for 22.

In the two female encounters Wellwoman defeated Blue Divas by 71 runs while Trophy Stall Angels got the better of 4R Lioness.

In the first encounter Wellwoman, batting first scored 134 for 3 off 10 overs with Latoya Smith the top scorer with 81 not out.

Amanda Bobsemple added 35. Blue Divas reached 63 for 7 off 10 overs with Sangeeta Sawh 26. Roneka Isaacs 4 for 7 and Zole Telford 2 for 17 were the main wicket takers.

In the second match Trophy Stall Angels batting first scored 103 for 5 off 10 overs with Heema Singh 28 the top scorer. Ruth George captured 3 for 17 for 4R Lioness who in reply made 69 all out. Ruth George 18.
