Pacesetters blow out Amelia’s Ward Jets 81-59

Trinity Grid Pacesetters (TGH) blew-out Amelia’s Ward Jets 81-59 when the Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation (GABF) National hard-court warmup series continued on Sunday at the Burnham Court on Middle and Carmichael Streets.

Travis Burnette led all scorers with 16 points for the winners while Michael Turner and Steffon Gillis supported with 15 and 14 points respectively. Banzon Fraser netted 14 minutes for losers whilst Adrian Webster netted 13.

Leading 19-15 following the end of the first period, Pacesetters would go into half-time leading 35-30 as they outscored the Jets 16-15 in the second stanza. They would then increase their lead in the third period, outscoring the Jets 28-10 to go into the final quarter ahead 63-40.

With the matchup already decided, Jets would outscore TGH Pacesetters in the final period 19-18. The second matchup of the tripleheader saw Colts defeating Victory Valley Royals by a 90-73 score line.

Nikkoloi Smith shot his way to 20 points for the victors while Rayon Cummings and Shelroy Thomas scored 19 and 10 points correspondingly. Netting 20 points in the loss was Chris Williams while Andrew Rodney and Marlon Pollydore supported with 10 points each.

Taking a 24-16 first quarter advantage, Colts would increase their lead to 10 points as they outshot Royals 20-18 as the second quarter finished 44-34. The lead would then grow to 12 points as they once again outscored the Linden unit 17-15 in the third period.

With the scores locked at 61-49 at the start of the fourth stanza, Colts would register their best scoring period, netting an impressive 29 points to seal the win. Royals would also register a commendable scoring output as they netted 24 points in the period.

In the opening matchup, Pepsi Sonics defeated Nirva Knights by a 66-54 margin. Junior Lovell led the winners was with 24 points. He was supported by Scott Garraway and Sheldon Frank who netted 12 and 10 points respectively.

Leading the losers with figures of 13 and 10 points respectively were Owen Walton and Lloyd Bart.
