Bandits grab cash, jewels from No.57 rice farmer

At about 2100h on Monday, the police say that rice farmer Jaiswah Boodnarine, 59 years, was in the yard of his residence at No. 57 Village, Corentyne, Berbice with his wife and two friends when they were held up by five men, two of whom were armed with a firearm and a cutlass.

The perpetrators took away Boodnarine’s licensed shotgun along with $200,000 and a quantity of jewellery and escaped.

Investigations are in progress.
