Clinton Urling heads FIFA Normalisation Committee

The five member Guyana Football Federation (GFF) FIFA Normilization Committee tasked with running the affairs of the sport has been officially appointed. The committee which was commissioned by world body FIFA in conjunction with CONCACAF following the abrupt end of two GFF congresses, will feature individuals who have no ties within the footballing realm.

Former Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry Limited (GCCI) President Clinton Urling will serve as the body’s chairman while the other four members are Dr. Karen Pilgrim, Stuart May, Rabin Chandarpal and Tariq Williams.

Excerpts from the official correspondence signed by General Secretary (ag) Mabiola Howard and sent to several media houses said “The normalization committee will be in charge of revising the GFF Constitution and its members and manage the daily business of the Federation.”

It added: “The committee will also be in charge of the electoral process and its decision will be final and binding. Members of the committee will not be eligible to run for any positions at the elections which will be held at the next Congress. The elections will be on or before September 30th 2015.”

Urling last night told Stabroek Sports that the committee will meet with the media on Friday at 4.30pm at the GFF office, Lot 17, Dadanawa Street, section K, Campbellville.
