They were fined a total of $15,000 and advised to seek counselling at Help and Shelter.

Prosecutor Kerry Bostwick told the court on the day in question, Gardner went home under the influence of alcohol and Noel refused to speak with him because of the state he was in. However, this resulted in a misunderstanding where Gardner dealt Noel several cuffs about her body and a slap to her face.

The court heard that Gardner also hit her with a pressure cooker and she defended herself by hitting him with a saw that was in the house causing him minor injuries about his body.

Gardner told the court, “I am sorry about everything that happen and I didn’t mean for it to happen. I want to ask her [Noel] for forgiveness so we can go forward and look after our kid.”

The magistrate then fined Gardner $10,000 and Noel $5000. The magistrate however cautioned Gardner to take note that he was only being fined and not sent to prison because he apologized to Noel and she forgave him.
