A man found guilty of committing a violent robbery was yesterday sentenced to three years in prison.
Xavier George aka ‘Sugar’ was sentenced by Magistrate Zamilla Ally at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s court after the court found him guilty of relieving Alwin Vogleson of $710,100.
Prosecutor John Singh said the complainant had just come from Suriname and while proceeding home on the Vryheid’s Lust Road, East Coast Demerara, George approached him and gave him a sound beating. He then stripped Vogleson of his belongings.
The trial was ex parte and George was not there when he was sentenced.
