Husband of woman found dead at Golden Grove contacted

The police have confirmed that the husband of the woman found dead along with her baby daughter in a Golden Grove, East Bank Demerara apartment on Saturday has been contacted and is expected to travel to Georgetown to identify the remains today.

The bodies of Eulanca Charles and her two-month-old daughter were discovered by police after neighbours had reportedly complained about a pungent odour emanating from the house since last Friday.

While adding that no further details have been made available, Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum stated that the man has been located and is expected to be present at the post-mortem examination which is expected to be done today.

The house where Charles lived is divided into two apartments. She, her husband and her two-month-old daughter lived in one, while a man and his girlfriend, lived in the other. The two apartments are separated by a wall.

It was related that when the police arrived at the home around 11.30 on Friday night they gained entry into the house by breaking down the door. It was then they discovered the decomposing bodies of Charles and her daughter on the ground in the bedroom.

Neighbours told this newspaper that Charles was not social,

nevertheless some of them had noticed her absence and had wondered at it.

Meanwhile, two fruit vendors, who said that Charles had frequently purchased fruits from them, explained that they had not seen her for about two weeks but didn’t pay any attention to it as they assumed that she had gone into the interior with her husband, who works there.

The vendors explained that Charles would usually call them to deliver items to her house but that she had not contacted them in a while.
