Cops still to solve attacks on Chinese businessmen

Police are not yet closer to finding the perpetrators in separate attacks on two Chinese businessmen, which ended with one being murdered and the other being shot.

On August 7th, restaurant owner Zhenjz Su, 35, was murdered in the kitchen of the Jade Stone Chinese Restaurant, located along Mandela Avenue. His wife, Fei Su, was beaten and robbed of an undisclosed amount of money during the attack.

The next day, bandits attacked the Wisdom Supermarket at Vryheid’s Lust, East Coast Demerara, and shot the owner, Hua Kang Huang, in his leg and escaped with an undisclosed sum of money and two bottles of Sky Vodka.

According to Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum, both attacks are still being investigated.

While both restaurant and supermarket had surveillance cameras set up, the one at the restaurant was not working properly and was unable to provide useful footage for the police. The cameras at the supermarket recorded the bandits during the robbery but the faces of the two bandits cannot be distinguished in the footage.

Police were also questioning a man who claimed to have been Su’s friend and was seen around the premises on the night of the murder but have reached a dead end.
