Cops hold suspected accomplice in murder of Mandela Ave restaurateur

Police have arrested a man suspected to have vital information about the murder of Zhenjz Su, the owner of the Jade Stone Chinese restaurant who was killed earlier this month.

Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum confirmed on Saturday that the police have detained a person in connection with the murder. On August 7th, Su, 35, was murdered in the kitchen of the Jade Stone Chinese Restaurant located on Mandela Avenue. His wife Fei Su was beaten and robbed of an undisclosed amount of money during the attack.

While there were surveillance cameras in the restaurant, investigators were unable to use the footage as the cameras were not working properly. Police were previously questioning an individual who was allegedly seen around the premises on the night of the murder and also had a photo of Zhenjz in his phone. The man had claimed to have been the deceased’s friend.

According to sources, the person currently in police custody is the man who provided the killer with the cutlass that was used to kill Zhenjz.

While the bandits had taken a sum of money, residents of area are still questioning the motive of the killer. They had stated previously that all of the windows and other access points to the building were heavily grilled and protected and the only access was the door at the back of the restaurant which could have only been opened by someone inside or with a key from the outside.

They had highlighted the fact that the time of the incident, all of the dogs were let loose to roam the yard yet no one heard barking or any sort of commotion. The residents had explained that about two weeks prior to the murder, Zhenjz had an altercation with two of his employees and was forced to fire them.

Fei and her children have since moved from the property and currently live with other relatives.
