Cops questioning man over murder of Jade Stone owner

The police are currently questioning a man in connection with the murder of the owner of a Mandela Avenue restaurant last Friday.

“Investigators are questioning an individual based on information that stated he was seen in the vicinity of the business on the night of the murder,” Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum told Stabroek News yesterday. He said the man was also found with a photograph of the now deceased restaurant owner in his cellular phone. Although the man claimed that he was friends with the restaurant owner, the police are still questioning him and trying to verify his claim.

Zhenjz Su was murdered in his Jade Stone Restaurant on Mandela Avenue, East Ruimveldt last Friday after a group of men invaded the business. His wife, Fei Su, was also confronted in their living quarters, which is situated above the restaurant, where she was beaten unconscious.

When she regained consciousness and checked the kitchen area on the lower floor, she discovered the body of her husband. She had found the man’s body with his hands tied, mouth gagged and a deep chop wound to his head. The perpetrators had gotten away with an undisclosed amount of money.

The Chinese Restaurant remains closed. While there were cameras situated around the premises of the business no image was retrieved.
