Guyana loses thrice

Guyana’s hopes of retaining their male title and clinching the overall team title got off to the worst possible start, losing all three of their fixtures when the Caribbean Squash Association Championships Team Tourney commenced yesterday in the Cayman Islands.

Holders of the female team title as well, the holders and number one seed went down to rivals and fourth seed Jamaica by a 3-2 score line in their group-B showdown. They will now face off with Bermuda in their final group fixture.

In the Veterans section, Guyana went down to the Eastern Caribbean States by a 3-2 margin. In their second matchup against Jamaica, Guyana lost via a countback after both teams failed to have a female over-50 player. The score prior to the countback was tied at 2-2.

The veteran team will face off with Trinidad and Tobago today in their final fixture. Guyana will hope that their female side can do better when they open their campaign today against  the host nation.
