Kashif and Shanghai tipped to run Elite football league

The Kashif and Shanghai Organisation is tipped to be awarded the management contract for the recently established Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Stag Beer Elite League following a tendering process.

According to sources close to the federation, the group, known for its longstanding football event of the same name, is expected to be announced shortly as the successful applicant by the federation.

The contract runs for the period of September 2015 to May 2016, which is the entire duration of the tournament.

The invitation for the tender for the GFF Elite League appeared on July 29th in the Kaieteur News.

According to the advertisement, the successful applicant would acquire the official management rights of the event and would be responsible, under the guidance of the federation for the match-day operations of the event.

In terms of the criteria for the tender, the advertisement said that an overview of the company must be submitted along with a comprehensive cost proposal and evidence of previous work in the organisation and running of football tournaments. The submission deadline for the tenders was August 10th.

The inaugural event which is expected to commence on September 18th, will consist of eight teams from several associations across the country. A formal launch is expected on August 31st.

The competing clubs are Alpha United, Bakewell Slingerz, the Guyana Defence Force (GDF), Pele FC, Georgetown Football Club (GFC), Monedderlust FC, Buxton United and Fruta Conquerors.
