Soldiers shot in seawall robbery attempt

Two soldiers were shot last night on the seawall in the course of an attempted robbery.

Stabroek News understands that around 11.20 pm, six soldiers who were staying at Camp Ayanganna, were walking along the seawall when three men on CG motorcycles approached two of them who were walking in front of the group and tried to rob them. After the men resisted, one of the perpetrators who was armed with a gun, shot the two men and escaped.

The soldiers, whose names were given as Adrian Henry and Pablo were subsequently rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital.

“I don’t know exactly what happened but I saw them walking on the seawall going towards the Celina Atlantic Resort side and around there is usually dark and lonely but it was nuff of them,” a vendor on the seawall told Stabroek News. About 15 minutes after the group of men passed, about four gunshots were heard and the vendor saw two of the soldiers running back to Camp Ayanganna.
The two injured men are currently admitted at the Georgetown Hospital.
