GPF leads but GDF looking to retain C/ships

When the track and field segment of the Inter-Services Annual Athletics and Swimming Championship (ISAASC) gets underway today at the National Track and Field Centre, the Guyana Police Force (GPF) will have a 47-point cushion on title holders, the Guyana Defence Force (GDF). The Police men and women have tallied 226 points following the road relays and the swimming championships on Sunday. GDF trails on 179, the Prison Services are on 20, the Guyana Fire Service is one point behind while the City Constables are in the cellar on 11 points.

Yesterday was a rest day for the October 11-16 championships after which competition resumes today and tomorrow at Leonora. Thursday will be another rest day, while the championships conclude Friday night.

GDF, holders of the coveted ISAASC trophy and will look to retain their silverware. Arch rivals the GPF will be looking to rearrest the award.
