Stabroek News was told that the accident occurred around 11.30 am as the men were travelling together to Georgetown in the tray of the truck.

The driver of the truck was reportedly speeding along the roadway, resulting in him losing control and running into a tree stump and causing the truck to topple.

A crowd of family members and concerned friends flocked around the entrance of the Accident and Emergency Unit at GPHC last night as three ambulances rushed the first seven men in. The first seven arrived around 7 pm and the remainder arrived around 9 pm. Some of the men were subsequently admitted at the GPHC and some were transferred to Woodlands Hospital.

Up to press time, all of the men were said to be in stable condition.
