Holder slapped with one-match suspension

COLOMBO, Sri Lanka, CMC-West Indies captain Jason Holder has been slapped with a one-match suspension for maintaining a slow over-rate during the first One Day Inter-national (ODI) against Sri Lanka in Colombo.

The penalty is Holder’s second for the year after he was found guilty of a minor over-rate offence in the fifth ODI against South Africa in January.

As a result, he will now miss West Indies’ second match of the ongoing Sri Lanka series today.

Holder, who pleaded guilty to the offence and accepted the proposed sanction, was also fined 40% of his match fees, while his team-mates were docked 20% of theirs.

Match referee David Boon imposed the fine and suspension, ruling that West Indies were two overs short of their target after time allowances were taken into consideration.
