Ottley slams century ahead of Jaguars clash

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC –Yannick Ottley warmed up for the resumption of the Regional first class season with a century while Jeremy Solozano and Steven Katwaroo both got half-centuries, on the final day of a three-day warm-up game here Thursday.

The right-hander struck 112 off 186 balls with 11 fours and a six as his XI were dismissed for 334 at the National Cricket Centre, in reply to Jason Mohammed’s XI first innings of 213 all out.

Nicholas Pooran, sidelined for the last year with injuries stemming from a vehicular accident, made a bold statement of his fitness with a whirlwind 86 off 93 deliveries with seven fours and six sixes.

Batting a second time, Mohammed’s XI reached 149 for two with the left-handed Solozano crafting 59 and Katwaroo hitting 54.

Red Force are gearing up for their sixth round clash in the Regional Four-Day Championship against leaders and defending champions Guyana Jaguars at the National Stadium in Georgetown.

They ensured mixed fortunes in the first half of the competition, winning just one of their five games to be fourth in the standings on 37 points.

Jaguars have 85 points to be 22 points clear of the second placed Barbados Pride on 63 points.
