Ramdhani, Mangra settle for bronze in boys doubles

Guyana’s Narayan Ramdhani and Jonathan Mangra won a bronze medal in the boys U19 doubles at the II Peru Junior International World Ranking tournament at the Regatas Club Badminton Courts in Lima, Peru.

Competing for a place in the final the locals went under to Peru’s Rodrigo Camogliano Telge and Nicolas Macias 21-18, 9-21, 16-21.

The pair had reached the semi-finals with a 21-8, 21-17 win over another Peru pair of Renzo Camogliano Telge and Matias Zamorano Ramos in the quarter-finals. In singles play Ramdhani lost to Macias 18-21, 18-21 also in the quarter finals while Mangra lost his opening round match.

The two players participation was made possible by the Guyana Olympic Association, the National Sports Commission and Yellow Mining and Bounty Farm.

According to a release from the Guyana Badminton Association, a 10-member junior team will now prepare to compete at the Suriname Easter Junior Under-15 & 19 International Championships in Paramaribo from March 25-27.
