Hetmyer, Jacobs replace Chanderpaul, Beaton

Leaders Guyana Jaguars have made two changes to the team for the final round clash of the West Indies Cricket Board’s Professional Cricket League four day against the Jamaica Scorpions starting tomorrow at the Providence National Stadium.

According to a press release from the Guyana Cricket Board, the national selectors have included West Indies Under-19 World Cup captain, Shimron Hetmyer and off-spinner, Steven Jacobs for the all-important clash as the Guyana Jaguars seek to retain the regional four-day title they won last year.

Hetmeyer replaces veteran batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul, who is injured while off-spinner Jacobs replaces fast bowler Ronsford Beaton.

The Jaguars have led the points standings for most of the season but saw their lead cut after losing on first innings to the Leeward Islands in their ninth round clash which they managed to escape with a draw.

They enter tomorrow’s 10th and final round on 130 points a mere seven points in front of second placed Barbados Pride and will look to defeat the Scorpions outright in an effort to retain the title.

The coach is Esaun Crandon and the manager Rayon Griffith.
