Hinds’ win in feature event underlines TGE’s dominance

Add another first place trophy to Orville Hinds’ and Team Gillette Evolution’s (TGE) cabinet.

Saturday, at the National Park, Hinds rode off with the spoils of the feature 35-lap event of the third annual Star Party Rental multi-race programme.

His third victory for the season which came in a brisk one hour, 16 minutes and 31 seconds was the ninth for his team in 12 races staged this season.

Race after race, TGE cements its status as the premier club on the local cycling circuit.

The club’s dominance was underlined by his club mate, Michael Anthony joining him on the podium in the second place position after pocketing all eight sprint prizes. Team Coco’s Junior Niles was third.

Akeem Wilkinson, Paul Choo-Wee-Nam and Mark Harris filled out the top six rewarding positions.

Hinds, last year’s most successful wheelsman, stopped the clock far below the time registered by last year’s winner, Hamza Eastman who completed the event in one hour 17 minutes 39 seconds. Hinds placed second last year by a half bike length.

Other winners yesterday included: Niles (veteran’s under 50-five lap event), Raymond Newton (veteran’s over-50), Raphael Leung (Juveniles -10 laps), Keon Thomas (Mountain Bikes), Shay Sue-Hang (BMX 6-9 years), Adelie Hodge (BMX 9-12 years) and Jeremiah Harrison (12-14 years) and Jerone Stephens (BMX Boys and Girl 12-14).

The cycling season continues Sunday at West Demerara.
