T&T and Guyana remain unbeaten in U-15 cricket

ST .GEORGE’S, Grenada,  CMC – Leaders Trinidad and Tobago’s unbeaten run continued when they  hammered lowly placed Leeward Islands by 114 runs in fourth round action of the Regional Under-15 Championship here on Monday.

Starts from top order batsmen Anthonio Gomez, Tariz Mohammed and Hayden Seales and three wicket hauls from Jayden Seales, Rivaldo Ramlogan and Sameer Ali catapulted T&T to a commanding win at Progress Park.

Leewards slumped to 56 for four and never recovered in the face of a persistent bowling attack led by Seales, Ramlogan and Sameer who grabbed 3-19, 3-21 and 3-21 respectively.

T&T now sits at the top of the table on 25.4 points while Leewards are on fourth place with 7.4 points.

Meantime Guyana is five points adrift of T&T after a convincing 100 run win over hapless Jamaica at Tanteen.

The Jamaicans did well to bowl out the Guyanese for 150 in 48 overs after they recovered from a shaky 31 for the loss of three wickets with two batsmen getting starts-Sachin Singh 43 and Dwain Dick 32.

Romain Jacobs three for 30 and Bisnarth Headley two for 15 were the pick of the Jamaican bowlers.

Jamaica did not capitalize on the advantage given to them by their bowlers and suffered a total meltdown on the chase, crumbling for 50 runs in 41.1 overs.

No player made the crossover into double figures as Nigel Deodat 3-8, Lance Roberts 2-16 and Sheldon Charles 2-1 reaped havoc.

Unbeaten Guyana is second on the points table on 20.7 points while their beaten opponents languish in the cellar position on 0.3 points.

Over at LaSagesse, a century partnership between Antonio Morris and Demetrius Richards laid the foundation for Barbados to outplay Windward Islands by 99 runs.

Morris top scored with 79 from 89 balls including 13 fours while Richards posted 60 from his 83 ball innings that counted two fours.

The two put on 136 runs for the third wicket as Barbados soared to 239 for five in their 50 overs in a dominant batting display.

Effan Doctrove two for 51 and Ramando Brown two for 35 made breakthroughs for the Windwards but their efforts were not enough to contain the prolific Bajans.

Windwards suffered major setbacks while chasing the target, sliding to 58 for the loss of four wickets but were unable to repair the damage and were eventually dismissed for 140 in 41.5 overs.

The main destroyers shared the spoils evenly – Hans Campbell 2-17, Renacko Belgrave 2-16 and Nicholas Austin 2-18.

Barbados is in third position with 14.1 points while Windwards are 6.8 points, just above bottom placed Jamaica.
