Dismembered farmer case being treated as hit and run

An autopsy performed on the remains of Phillip Viveiros, the farmer whose body was found along the Adventure Public Road, Linden-Soesdyke Highway on Monday revealed that he died as a result of multiple injuries sustained.

A police source related to Stabroek News that as a result the matter is being treated as a hit and run.

At the time of the discovery, Viveiros’ head had been smashed in and other body parts were found a short distance away from the scene. It appeared as though he had been run over by a vehicle.

No arrest has yet been made as the investigation continues.

The police, in a press statement had said that the body of Viveiros, 41, of Adventure Village, Linden Highway was found around 5.40am on Monday.

This newspaper was told that he left his home, where he resides with his mother, Enid Viveiros, around 2am Monday to visit his farm. Shortly before this, he was drinking.

It is suspected that Viveiros was hit by a speeding vehicle and fell during his journey to the farm.
