Wins for Silver Sands, Santa Rosa, Expendables and Newcastle

Expendables, Silver Sands, Young Guns and Santa Rosa were amongst the wins in the Men’s Division when the 7th Annual Atkinson Brothe5-a-side Football Tournament continued Wednesday at the Kumaka Recreational ground.

Expendables dismissed Attackers by a 4-1 margin. Deon Narine scored a brace in the fourth and 30th minute, while Randy Narine and Raul Archer netted in the 14th and 29th minute, respectively. On target in the loss was Romario Henry in the 25th minute.

Defending champ Silver Sands overcame Cart Market 1-0, compliments of a Delon Fernandes strike in the 22nd minute. Young Guns riddled Golden Eagles 3-0, led by a brace from Denzil Vieira in the first and 10th minute, and Brandon Atkinson’s 22nd minute strike.

Santa Rosa United brushed aside Kairie 2-0, through goals from Ronaldo Rodrigues and Dane Atkinson in the 17th and 20th minute, apiece.

In other results, Construction defeated Avengers 3-1 on penalty kicks, after normal time ended 0-0. Similarly, Netrockers edged Kairie 1-0 on penalty kicks, following a scoreless extra time period.

In the Women’s Section, Newcastle defeated Golden Eagles by a 2-0 score line, with Shemeka Abrahams and Brandy Phillips firing in solitary strikes in the 5th and 9th minutes, respectively.

The final of the tournament is scheduled for Boxing Day at the same venue.
